hearty and full

so far this round of chemo seems to be going possibly even more smoothly than the first (maybe because i got the first infusion 48 hours after having 3 surgical procedures, you think?). yesterday, i felt really good- almost so good that i started to wonder if the drugs had really gone in. [...]

finding chemo

so, chemo day #2 is over.
lee went in like a lamb and went out like a lion.
no nausea, no adverse reactions (besides her insides dying), no problem.

Like the little yellow port sticking out like a tiny marigold?
I like the pink bra peeking out from the zebra top and cleavage.

a lot of people have been writing us and offering advice.
some of it is good, some not so good, but that isn’t the point.
the act of giving is there.
that said, to this point i feel as if i’m in no position (nor is lee)
to offer any advice to anyone.

and now i feel stupid…

when i was a child,
as when you were a child,
we heard things when we complained:
that people had it worse
somewhere else.
that they starved more
that they worked more
that they walked longer distances to places in the snow
that they suffered more
than the amount we were suffering then.
and it was supposed to make a difference.
and it didn’t.

dry post

sounds sexy, eh?
it’s not.
but some good news.
leanne is already in a clinical trial out of the mayo clinic
for epratuzumab, which also sounds sexy, and it kind of is.
it’s an antibody that attaches to cancer cells like the ones she has
(diffuse large b-cells) and tells her immune system to kill ‘em.
she’s on another antibody too, rituximab…which [...]
