low and behold

so….there’s something we want to share with you….

there are a few really important factors in staging lymphoma,
and one of them is called LDH (lactate dehydrogenase).
it’s an enzyme found in the blood.
high levels indicate active cancer in non-hodgkin lymphoma patients.
normal range is between 80 and 220.

when leanne was diagnosed four weeks ago, her LDH was 700.
even before the mri came back, that was one indication they didn’t tell us about that pretty much indicated that the cancer was incredibly active and probably widespread.
and the mri confirmed that. the cancer was all over the place.

today, leanne had a blood draw and she asked them to check the LDH.

it’s 180.

we’re trying not to get too jazzed about it,
we still have a really important petscan next wednesday
that should actually show us whether the cancer is retreating,
but it’s something, dammit.

normal levels.
we’ve never been so ecstatic to just be
normal.
