  • BEAUTIFUL!!! Thanks so much for the pix. (I’ve been checking all day.) Leanne, I have not met you, being one of the many strangers brought to your story by this blog, but that smile is absolutely stunning. A person (me) feels happier just looking at you! And that little girl has a dazzling smile as well. Peace and joy to you.

  • You are beautiful. (((HUGS)))

  • Damn. Hotness.

  • Leanne, please know you have a total stranger in Baltimore pulling for you! And your haircut looks great.

  • Lee,
No fun while that hair is falling out, but you look great! It’s amazing how quickly you will get used to life with out hair. Then when it comes back, you will have a greater appreciation for however it looks—it will just be good to have hair, life, family, and a healthy body!
Thanks for sharing your “barber shop” experience!
    Hugs,
    Phyllis

  • Lee,
It must be very hard to loose your hair. I so wish you did not have to go trough any of it. However those beautiful eyes of yours are just as striking and making your face truely captivating.

  • You are so beautiful…all of you. It’s great to see you smiling. Much Love.

  • Leanne, please accept this compliment from a stranger: you have a beautiful face and a beautiful smile. This hair hiatus does not detract from your beauty at all!

  • How dare you look so beautiful! Lee, you are my hero. With love, candles, prayers and little necco conversation hearts (mom and dad brought some for us when they visited) we are thinking of you — Jen, Fred, Alexi and Julia

  • You have BOTH Natalie and Sinead beat – WOW – beautiful!

Thanks for sharing – it’s so amazing to see how being a mother strengthens the spirit- so evident in the video of you helping Lydia through the process. Way to go!

  • So now it is my duty to officially welcome Leanne and Dan into the International Brotherhood of All-knowing Lucky Domes (IBALD). As Sergeant at Arms for this prestigious group of the folically enlightened, I provide new members helpful tips and guidance.

You are about to experience untold freedom and happiness. If you daily hair grooming activities took 30 minutes a day you now have an additional 10,950 minutes a year. Many members of IBALD use this time to pursue their doctorate, begin a modeling career, or take up sans-cap swimming.

Consider suntan lotion a staple. Just like fish need water and earthworms need dirt, IBALD members slather SPF 50 even when just reading under a strong incandescent light bulb. Speaking from experience, I strongly recommend resisting the urge to use suntan lotion to create a visual shout-out to your favorite sports team. I mean who remembers the Browns anyway?

The skills gained by self-coiffing the back of your head can be used in…other areas. Learning to expertly wield a four-blade razor with the guidance of a two-mirror reflective system often comes in handy. Dan: I think this advice is directed more for your use. I remember that time at the beach when your trunks decided not to hang on for your volleyball spike. Let’s just say that you have a canvas full of artistic potential. Plus there is the added benefit to bicyclists in your slipstream not having to see your chia-pealizumis.

So a tip of my hat to our newest members (I always wear a hat.) The world is opening before you. Chapeaux!

  • go girl go.. that is a GREAT haircut.

  • this is so so heartwrenching.
i cant stop reading but i cant bear to read anymore.

How dare i feel so sad about this when im an impossibility on the other side of a screen?

where does your strength to laugh and love, and even live come from?

    Love,

    Laurie

  • I read all of your story last Thursday, and not a moment has gone by that I haven’t thought of you and your family. I requested that our entire church pray for you and your family today…so know that people in Arkansas are praying for you. I am 33, have a daughter that will be 3 in March and am 24 weeks pregnant with another girl. When I read your story, I couldn’t help but want to pray for you and your 100% recovery. You are beautiful and have such a beautiful daughter and loving husband. I have since been updating my husband on your story every day and when I showed him your picture after you shaved your head…he said, “Wow, she looks good without hair!!” This coming from the most vain man I know. :) Anyway, know that you are being prayed for by strangers and we all want to see you beat this!!! Thanks for sharing your story.

  • Lee, you are absolutely beautiful. Your whole family is beautiful. What a beautiful post. Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

I have to comment, also, on the picture of you looking up at Dan…right after your haircut. What a precious photo. Your eyes speak volumes – love, hope, and a little uncertainty.

    We are all with you.

  • I’m a stranger from Denver. You are inspiring.

  • And I thought Sade was the only hot bald headed woman out there- boy was I wrong. You look simple awesome!

  • Can you tell that the phone rang when I was typing– sade or sinead- whoever the heck that gorgeous woman is- Love ya!

  • Lee, hair or no hair, you are a beautiful strong woman. Keep fighting. We’ll keep praying and thinking of you and your wonderful family.

  • Dear Leanne,
Your daughter is so lucky to see such a strong, happy and beautiful mommy! (A strong daddy, too!)
I, too, am a stranger following your life full of love.
Just wanted you to know my Presbyterian church in Prairie Village, KS is sending big love and big prayers your way every Sunday.
    Blessings,
    Krista

  • That is the most beautiful family portrait and home movie I have seen in a long time. Gosh, I don’t know you guys, but I sure like you.

    Still praying and still listening…

  • Lea, you look gorgeous. Very GI Jane.
    Love you all loads,

    Josie, Jon and Faith

  • I, too, am a stranger following your story. I just had to say that you look absolutely gorgeous with no hair — about 100 times better than I do *with* hair!

You and your beautiful family seem to have the right attitude to fight this thing. My cousin has leukemia (and has been in remission for many years), and she swears that attitude is half the battle.

Wishing you the best of luck and many prayers!

  • A friend linked me to this blog, and I just wanted you to know you and your family are in my thoughts constantly. You’re beautiful, and the love you all share is precious.

  • girl– you are gorgeous!! wow!!

when my mom’s hair grew back after the chemo it came in thick and curly- she always had thin and straight- so here’s to new beginnings as you kick this cancer right to the curb! still thinking of you three and praying for you.

  • Stunning. You rock the bald, both of you.

Lee, your smile is so warm, and those eyes… entrancing. You have spirit. I can see that too in your daughter’s eyes.

    Prayers coming your way.

  • Um, I can’t believe noone’s said anything about how the two of you could win some kind of award for Non-Hollywood Couple with the Straightest Teeth! So lovely, really. The one of the two of you head to head is truly special! Sending positive energy to you three…

  • I have to add my voice to the chorus of others singing your beauty, Lee. Dayum.

I did the same thing – made a party of shaving my head when it started to fall out. And yes, of all the silly things to lay a person flat – hair? HAIR?

(Mine grew back intensely curly. )

    Let the beatdown continue.

  • You are all beautiful.

  • Wow – courage, strength, perseverance, grace, love, frown-turned-upside-down – love love love to you all!! Keeping pace with you still… Vinca

  • Wow. Lee does not look like she could be anything other than beautiful. She seems to be so both on the inside, and the outside.

Oh yeah, didn’t G.I. Jane go for the shaven look? And she was very hard indeed. I hope the new look works for you!

  • Hair or no hair you are a beautiful strong women with a wonderful family. You will beat this. We will all be here for you then too.
